Founded in 1951 in Kobe, Japan, Noritz focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of products related to water heaters, gas wall-hung boilers, heating and cooling air conditioning, as well as bathroom and kitchen solutions. In 2009, Noritz was recognized by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment as an “ECO FIRST” company. Under this program, only one company per industry can receive the designation, and Noritz was the only company in Japan’s gas appliance industry to earn this recognition. In Japan, Noritz water heaters rank among the top annual sales in the industry, and the company is widely known for producing water heaters and hot-water related products.
Since entering China in 1993, Noritz has developed a product portfolio that covers water heating, home heating, kitchen appliances, and water purification. A major milestone followed in 2005, when Noritz invested USD 38 million to establish a 150,000 m² gas appliance manufacturing base in Fengxian District, Shanghai.
As market needs evolved, Noritz expanded its international business worldwide. Backed by strong R&D and improved production capabilities, the focus stays on reliable products that support comfortable everyday living.
Noritz operates in various major markets worldwide through local offices and regional teams, including:
- Japan: Six factories (including Akashi, Tsuchiyama, and Tsukuba) and a product development team of over 200 people
- China: Gas appliance manufacturing base in Fengxian, Shanghai (around 150,000 m²), with sales coverage across 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions
- United States: Noritz America Corporation is based in California
- Canada: Noritz gas water heaters are sold in the high-end market
- Brazil: Gas water heaters are positioned in the high-end market.
- Netherlands: Office dedicated to support operations across the European market
- Oceania: Noritz owns an office in Australia meant to support market development, with a focus on Australia and New Zealand
